As a Coastguard Rescue Officer, I am trained as part of a team to help rescue people trapped around the coast (on cliffs or in the water). We search for missing people and help emergency services during emergencies, such as flooding. Carrying a pager I can be called out any time of the day or night, may have to work in hazardous situations for long hours, and carry out physically demanding tasks such as carrying heavy equipment to rescue sites. Training for the Coastguard includes first aid, map work, search techniques, communications and rope and flood rescue skills.

EIP designs, develops, builds and operates a range of subsea equipment. Technologies include rigid pipe-lay spoolbases, pipe-lay systems and subsea ambient lifting. In addition, EIP are currently developing technologies for renewable energy applications. The main purpose of the Graduate Project Engineer role is to apply engineering knowledge to develop the active projects within the company. This will encompass all levels of research and development from conceptual design, through prototype stages to product completion and deployment. The role will encompass office based design and analysis work as well as practical work within a workshop environment in order to fabricate and test prototype tools and devices. The role will also include being involved with full scale development of successful tools and devices. The work scopes and any additional training shall support the professional development of the graduate engineer and allow them to work towards becoming a Chartered Engineer.Main Responsibilities* Applying engineering knowledge and understanding of design and analysis work for the successful development and completion of current and future projects.* Receive guidance from experienced engineers and members of the management team to enhance professional development.* Create detailed plans of project activities with clear objectives.* Develop cost, time and resource schedules and assist in preparation of proposals and tenders.* Participate in workshops and training days.* Prepare detailed work procedures and reports in relation to project execution.* Carry out site visits when requested.

I completed data analysis tasks leading to the refinement of tooling and procedures. As well as this I worked on a developing technology within the company, taking a concept idea through the initial stages which led to me designing, fabricating and testing a scale model of the technology.

I was involved in projects such as the development of content for an online decommissioning portal and a study into the relocation of subsea drill cuttings.
