To manage and lead the newly formed Financial Support Service, comprising of the following:- Discretionary Housing Payments- Discretionary Social Fund (Local Welfare Assistance)- Welfare Rights- Financial Inclusion/Capability Advice- Quality Assurance (Housing Benefit)- Safety Net FundBy bringing these services together, we are taking a more holistic approach with residents to ensure the appropriate support is available at the earliest opportunity.In addition to my duties above, I am also responsible for the effective spend of the budgets from the forementioned discretionary schemes, which exceed £3.5 million per annum for the financial year 2015/16.

For the first year of this role, I acted as the corporate lead for Equalities, in addition to various other areas of policy work.Since October 2012, I was the lead officer responsible for the Council's business improvement project, Welfare Reform. Establishing a programme board from all directorates to tackle the main issues, and minimise the impacts on both the residents of the borough and the Council.I also facilitated various high profile partnership summits, workshops and training sessions on Welfare Reform.An additional element of this role was to develop and maintain a monitoring framework for the effects of Welfare Reform, which has been adopted within the borough to steer the future work of the Council and partner organisations.

As part of the government's Aiming High for Disabled Children programme, my role was to ensure that the transformation of services was delivered with parents, carers and children at the heart of everything. My role also involved supporting the development of a parent/carer forum that had a steering group and various focus groups. This forum was parent-led and worked in partnership with statutory agencies to ensure services were designed appropriately. The forum was funded by central government but all members were volunteers.I also facilitated a weekly engagement forum for young people with disabilities.

To act as the lead officer within Children's Services to ensure the Council was prepared to transform the services for disabled children and their families over the subsequent three years. This role was a 6 month secondment.

To act as a member of the governing body to strategically mange the school, ensuring exceptional standards of teaching and learning and to be a critical friend to the leadership team.St. Bede's is a primary school rated as Outstanding by OFSTED and has maintained this rating throughout my term on the governing body.In my time as a governor, the school has achieved Teaching Schools status and the Leading Parent Partnership award (of which I was Chair of the subsequent sub-group of teaching staff and parents).Most recently, the school has converted to Academy status, as a member of the Nicholas Postgate Catholic Multi-Academy Trust (CMAT).I was appointed a Foundation Director in April 2015.Shortly before I left my position on the board, St Bede's was named 24th best school in the country based on results, from nearly 15,000 schools. I am enormously proud of the achievements in the five years I was a board member.

MAIN is a local charity that exists to offer advice and services tailored to individuals and families living with Autism.I spent 4 years as a trustee and director of MAIN. I joined MAIN only a month before the organisation suffered a severe financial crisis, and had to be rebuilt from the ground upwards. Unfortunately this meant making redundancies, but over the next three years, MAIN re-established itself as a leading provider of services to those living with autism and their families across the North East.At the time of leaving MAIN, the charity had secured contracts to deliver services across Redcar and Cleveland, Middlesbrough, Stockton and County Durham. This is in addition to the personal support services offered to families across the whole of the Tees Valley and Durham areas.
