During my time at university and while employed at my local JD Wetherspoons branch I have cultivated an array of professional competencies which are inclusive of, but not limited to, adept organisational abilities, refined interpersonal communication skills, and problem-solving prowess. I have successfully completed a four year bachelor of science with honours degree in zoology at the University of Glasgow having now graduated. Throughout my undergraduate studies at the university I have successfully developed highly efficient organisational, communication and scientific skill sets. In particular these key transferable skills were tested and refined during my fourth year honours project in which I successfully designed, developed, and deployed a biodiversity based science activity for primary level students.Alongside my academic studies, I have spent several month's employed at my local JD Wetherspoons branch where I worked as a bar associate. Completion of my twelve week training program, consisting of both online e-learning modules in addition to practical shifts working behind the bar and on the floor, allowed me to gain insight into the running of the business while enhancing my ability to work both efficiently and quickly as part of a team. My time employed at JD Wetherspoons has afforded me the transferable experience of working directly with the general public and as part of an extensive team within a fast paced and often stressful environment while consistently producing a high quality of service and product. In the summer of 2021, I successfully secured a place on and completed the STEM Online Experience course offered by Teach First. This online experience provided participants with an introduction to the key concepts and techniques of teaching and allowed for the progression of my own leadership and presentation abilities. Predominantly, the design, production and presentation of my own lesson to a group of peers afforded me with the opportunity to both receive and provide highly constructive feedback in order to fully assess which aspects of my leadership and presentation skills had been successfully strengthened by the experience.
