Undergraduate Research Assistant
Iowa State University Centers For Building And Energy Research (Cber)
Ames, Iowa, United States
Through this position, I have done work for two principal projects.1. Analysis of the effects of vegetative and nonorganic shading on building cooling load. - Collaborated with ISU faculty, and other URAs to design and create various experiments using air temperature/velocity sensors, a datalogger, and CRBasic to determine the differences of the effects of vegetative shading (evapotranspiration) and traditional shading on the cooling load of a mobile diagnostic lab during all the different seasons and weather conditions of the Midwest.2. Analysis of the effects of different HVAC strategies on viral load and transmission in public schools.- Collaborated with ISU faculty, graduate students, and other URAs to design and create an experiment using air temperature/velocity sensors, a datalogger, CRBasic, 3d LiDAR scanners, and computational fluid dynamics to create a model that can be used to determine the effects of retrofitting of different school HVAC equipment on viral load/transmission via a grant from the Iowa Economic Development Authority.
