As CEO I have overseen the introduction of a new service for young people up to aged 18. We have also adapted our education offering to include secondary, alongside our traditional primary school. The Board of Trustees at Seamab have long held an ambition to build a new school. In June 2024 work began on a project that will cost £5.6m. As CEO I have been very much involved in the Capital Appeal that has generated the funds required so that we can realise our ambition to build a school that is bespoke to meet the needs of young people impacted by early life trauma. This project has allowed me to utilise my range of skills and experiences to support the fundraising process and then to support the build process whilst managing the day to day business that comes with a charity that provides schooling but also residential child care.

I am delighted to have carried out this role in line with the wishes and aspirations of the Board Of Trustees. It was a significant time of change, I was the first CEO at Ochil Tower with a remit to further professionalize the service as it transitioned from one distinct model that was rooted in the Camphill approach, to a new model. My role was to support change whilst maintaining and nurturing all that is good about being a Camphill community. I helped to increase the upper age of young people to age 21 in tandem with overseeing the completion of a new purpose built Life Skills Centre. The new curriculum now supports young adults at a crucial stage as they approach young adulthood. The number of weeks of care also increased from 38 to 43 and the school was then able to take the next step to 52 weeks thereafter. Ochil Tower is now much better equipped to meet with the needs of young people, families and Commissioning partners.

I managed externally a diverse range of services with a combined annual turnover figure in excess of £3.5m. My portfolio included a Family Centre & nursery, a Fostering and Adult Placement team - I was the registered managers for Fostering services for Quarriers. I managed care at home/ short breaks & fostering services in Dumfries and Galloway. I had responsibility for a residential care home for children with additional support needs and I managed in my time at Quarriers, two youth homeless housing projects.
