I would also answer questions about services and policies or transfer the customer to a department that can help them for issues outside of what sales can do. I took carts of donated items and stocked shelves with them. I spent the day sorting and organizing the shelves in an effort to make everything easy to find. I assisted customers with locating items and directing them to what they were looking for. I reviewed items on the shelves looking for items that had been on the shelves too long and disposed of them as directed. When working at the “collectables” counter I negotiated prices and wrapped fragile items that were sold.

I assisted patrons with the veteran’s health benefits website. I took inventory of donated materials which included books, magazines, audio cassettes, and video cassettes. I marked paperback books for use in the patient library. I returned materials back on their shelf. I obtained materials for others on request. I assisted with maintaining the library database. I collected magazines and prepared them to be sent to a company that creates hardbound books out of the magazines. I assisted with organizing the book shelves and inventory room.

I took correspondence received by IRS and sorted them into batches while maintaining a set standard. I kept inventory and tracked all batches using a computer database network. I entered the database of every taxpayer to flag their record so that tax examiners were aware that a correspondence case had been started. I maintained storage of all work received until a tax examiner took them to start working on them. After six months of hard work I was assigned to train new members of the unit on their responsibilities. I reviewed the work of fellow employees for accuracy and gave feedback when mistakes were found.
