Supreme Fuels provides a full suite of fuel services including rapidly-deployable bulk fuel supply chain operations; aviation refuelling; and permanent bulk storage facilities.As the Business Development Manager Stuart’s key responsibilities included:• Developing and implementing Supreme Fuel’s business development plan, which included a shift from a total focus on traditional markets in austere regions to adding more commercially defined locations in the UK, Africa and South America.• Managing and leading the bid-writing process including the research, writing, compilation and submission of tender documentation.• Managing and leading key marketing activities to promote the Fuels Division internally and externally. Promotional activities included lecturing at the German Command and Staff College in Hamburg; trade shows in Munich and Washington DC in commercial and military settings; and establishing and chairing Supreme’s cross-division Business Development Managers forum.• Leading Supreme Fuel’s operational advance team in Haiti after the earthquakes in January 2010.• Performing the role of Sponsorship Manager to the Afghan National Cricket Team during the 2010 Twenty-20 World Cup in the West Indies.• Recruiting additional staff for the expansion of Supreme Fuel’s Commercial team.

Afghanistan

As the Senior Liaison Officer Stuart’s key responsibilities included:• Developing and implementing the Liaison Officer Team throughout Afghanistan.• Recruiting, leading, managing and training a multi-national team of Liaison Officers (all with previous military experience and ranging in ranks between Captain and Lieutenant Colonel) for deployment within Afghanistan.• Providing briefings to key senior military and civilian staff within NATO and the US Military including briefings in Afghanistan, NATO Joint Forces Command Headquarters (Holland) and UK Ministry of Defence. Briefings covered tactical, strategic, business development, quality systems, project planning and project management contexts.• Planning and implementing the operational supply of F34 aviation fuel, F54 diesel and AVGAS fuels to southern and western Afghanistan for NATO and US Forces.

Laos

Phu Bia Mining Limited is an Australian company operating in Laos. The company owns an operational gold mine in Laos and was constructing a copper plant at Phu Kham. Stuart was the Logistics Superintendent working concurrently for both the gold mine operation and the construction of the copper mine at Phu Kham.Stuart’s key responsibilities included:• Standardising and centralising the logistics management function to ensure that goods, materials, chemicals and equipment were delivered to, or exported from, the company in the most timely, cost effective, quality controlled and risk managed manner.• Ensuring the logistics process was established to meet agreed service levels for internal customers.• Developing and implementing procedures for the safe transport of chemicals to site.• Managing the import and export processes and procedures; technical and legal documentation requirements; and ensuring the company’s standing was not compromised.• Understanding the insurance and risk elements for all transport tasks.• Assisting in the development of scope of works for supply chain tenders.• Managing and reviewing contracts in a professional and fair manner to ensure the services contracted were met, remained effective and efficient.• Ensuring logistics functions performed by contractors, 3PLs and operational departments met the company’s environmental, health and safety standards; and complied with the contract conditions and the laws that were relevant to the country where services were provided.• Recruiting and training local staff to enable them to implement and maintain logistics systems to provide quality service to all operational departments and stakeholders.• Ensuring the logistics staff were accessible to internal customers and stakeholders for day to day logistics operations.• Developing positive liaison between the company, police and village militia to enable the safe and secure passage of transport vehicles to site.
