I am a qualified, registered social worker with a first class honours degree in social work from the University of York, with a specialism in mental health. I was employed as a social worker within a medium secure psychiatric hospital in the private sector from July 2014 – August 2016, and have an additional two years experience gained in a pre-qualifying role directly supporting people with learning and physical disabilities within the community. I then spent a further two years working for the Local Authority - Hampshire County Council, within the Learning Disability team, undertaking all facets of the Local Authority Social Worker role, including Care Act assessments, safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act, including assessments and best interests decisions, brokerage and funding bids and requests, MDT, multi-agency, MAPPA, high-cost placements, social circumstances reports, DoLS, housing, police, families, carers, care agencies etcPresently, I am in my fifth year working within a specialist safeguarding team within a large NHS foundation trust. My role, as a safeguarding practitioner, and now as a specialist practitioner, is highly complex and necessitates engagement with various aspects of NHS governance, including PSIRF - triage, CDM, and engagement with IO's in relation to AAR's and PSII reviews, complex case management, Quality and Performance, Policy, and other specific specialist safeguarding responsibilities around s.42 enquiries, Multi Agency Risk Management, allegations management (SAMA), SAR and DHR, and other engagement with external partner and multi-agency processes, including the activities of the local Safeguarding Adults Boards and respective working groups.The remit of the team is to also provide safeguarding supervision and the wider safeguarding educational provision to the trust, which includes the design, implementation, and on-going review of our modular offer.
