Stuart launched the UK office of GrabCAD in 2012. In 2 years, the GrabCAD Community grew from 400,000 to over 2 million registered members, becoming the world's largest and fastest-growing online community of engineers and CAD professionals. (In 2024, it now has over 14 million registered members.) Stuart's team was responsible for the 3D viewer, CAD interoperability and many other aspects of the GrabCAD Community and Workbench online applications. GrabCAD was acquired by Stratasys in September 2014.

Stuart was responsible for interoperability between SolidWorks and the Dassault Systemes V6 platform. Over 2 years, the team transformed an acknowledged weakness of the V6 platform into a strength.

As Director, Systems and Graphics, Stuart ran the Graphics, Systems, Integration and QA Automation development teams at SolidWorks (50 people distributed across the US, UK and India). A few highlights:- Working with Luxology LLC, the team created "PhotoView 360", a high-quality renderer based on novel raytracing algorithms and multicore CPU's, enabling SolidWorks users to generate beautiful images of their designs, interactively.- In the area of installation and licensing, Stuart focused relentlessly on usability and reliability, delivering a measured 10% improvement in customer satisfaction over a 2 year period.- In QA Automation and Systems, Stuart's team transformed the way crash data from the field was collected and analysed, ensuring that the most important crashes were fixed first.

Stuart managed the Graphics and Systems teams at SolidWorks, developing the second generation of SolidWorks' "RealView" technology, based on OpenGL shaders, and porting SolidWorks to 64-bit Windows.

Stuart managed the teams responsible for SolidWorks' DXF/DWG interoperabilty, and eDrawings. eDrawings was the first e-mail enabled collaboration tool for mechanical engineers. Under Stuart's leadership over a 2 year period, download figures for eDrawings grew from 400,000 to 2 million per year.

In his technical role as a Software Engineer, Stuart made significant contributions in diverse areas of the SolidWorks code. Highlights included adding a drop-shadow to SolidWorks' real-time graphics (SolidWorks was the first to do this among its competitors, although the capability is mainstream nowadays), adding the ability to save an assembly as a part (very useful for simplification and data hiding) and making dramatic performance improvements for drawings of large assemblies.

Stuart wrote mathematical software for clients who in turn developed end-user CAD products. Highlights included implementing a novel surface-surface intersection algorithm for the SolidDesigner product of Hewlett-Packard MDD (who became CoCreate, now part of Pro/E), managing the development of a sketcher for Sanei Giken Co. Ltd. of Japan, and implementing the numerical curve-surface intersection subsystem of D-Cubed's Hidden Line Manager product.

Stuart helped create the Parasolid geometric modelling kernel used in SolidWorks, OnShape and other leading 3D CAD systems. Perhaps his most visible contribution was the code that generates silhouette lines in the Hidden Line Removal subsystem.
