As the Contracts Manager I ensure that all transport contractors are managed to meet cost and service criteria, transport operations remain legally compliant (Drivers and fleet) and are optimised on a day to day basis. I also maximise revenue streams (Backhaul) to offset transport costs and improve efficiency, whilst maintaining service levels both to.

• Planning, executing and optimisation of multiple transport modalities. Managing the movement of over 4mt pa of finished products into Tata Steel customers located in the UK, Europe and Rest of World.
• Embedding safety solutions. Design and introduction of standards, compliance and KPI suites which are reviewed in audit and review meeting cycles.
• Benchmarking across the business. Sharing and learning events, offering and supporting management of change to identify operational and cost synergies that deliver benefits across Tata Steel Europe.
• Managing and developing strong customer/supplier relationships. Engaging with all levels within the organisations. Improved communications and working relationships with supply chain, customer services, manufacturing.
• Ensure all export operations adhere to HMRC and company legislation.
• Management of budgets and invoice approvals for logistical spend.

• Managed the execution and delivery of over 1mt pa of finished steel product to all Tata Steel UK export customers; whilst ensuring inventory levels do not exceed business targets.
• Delivered an efficient and cost effective operation of all bulk and container shipping for Tata Steel UK. Including the sourcing of vessels and container stuffing depots.
• Contract managed all external port facilities that handled Tata Steel UK products. Including involvement in supplier negotiation and performance review.
• Managed the day-to-day European road freight movements in conjunction with the incumbent supplier, ensuring adherence to customer delivery deadlines and compliance to load restraint requirements.
• Collated and investigated any sub-optimum logistic cost performance. Delivering solutions to improve the cost to serve.
• Produced a rolling quarterly export shipping plan to reflect business demand.

 Provided support to the strategic planning processes through generating user friendly management reports. Responsible for creating and maintaining service metrics that drive customer service improvements. Managed a statistical process control system to ensure correct quantities are scheduled on manufacturing units to meet customer ordered quantities..
