Responsible for managing and developing the construction products test department, ensuring the smooth operation of the laboratory and facilities to provide quality services to customers and achieve core organisational objectives.Supervise the utilisation and competency of a technical team of 15 staff, arranging training and development opportunities to ensure they are appropriately skilled for their roles. Work with the Health and Safety Officer to ensure safe working practice for all staff and contractors on site.Oversee the delivery of all test activities for a wide range of construction products with over 400 recognised test methods in a wide range of construction product areas. Key tasks including: quoting, market strategy, scheduling, presentations, process management and sign off of technical reports. Lead for managing, maintaining and updating UKAS accreditation, ISO 17025 management system and Keymark schemes for thermal insulation products. Regular review of customer feedback to ensure continuous improvement.

Carrying out the assessment, approvals and certification process for a wide range of construction product types, specialising in cementitious and admixtures products. Developing and updating BBA test criteria in-line with British and European Standards and seeking new business opportunities for market sectors.

Operational management of the concrete laboratory and its staff team of a laboratory technician and laboratory steward. Ordering of raw materials, sample preparation, delivery and reporting of test trials, development of products and internal test methods and maintenance of equipment and document control of test methods and standards.

Set up and delivery of small scale laboratory facilities for developmental test work specialising in cement, resin based mortars and grouts. Maintenance and updating of the Quality Manual and document control, including regular internal audits.
