Stuart M. Schrader is currently a Clinical Associate Professor of Behavioral Sciences at Indiana University School of Dentistry. Co-founder of a newly formed start up that designs XR solutions for mitigating patients pain and anxiety pre, intra and post op. Recently awarded an Indiana University Extended Reality Initiative (XRI) Fellowship & Grant. He is also a Practicum Field Instructor for MSW Leadership and Health Care students in the Social Work School at Indiana University. Presently an Adjunct Professor at the Newcastle University School of Dental Sciences in Newcastle Upon Tyne, UK.Previously he was an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Family Medicine at Indiana University Medical School and an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in Communication Studies at IUPUI. Additionally he is the Executive Director of the IUSD Oral Health Care for Cancer Patient Foundation (OHCCP) and Co-Founder of OHCCP Advocacy whose mission is to advocate, educate and assist under served and disenfranchised cancer patients in need of preventive and/or restorative oral health care pre, during or post cancer therapies (Chemotherapy, Radiation, or Surgery). He has taught at DePauw College, Bloomsburg College and Ithaca College. Since completing his BA in Psychology from Humboldt State University, a MA in Organizational Communication with an emphasis in Training and Development from Western Kentucky University, a MSW in Oncology Social Work from Indiana University and a PhD in Health Care Communication from the State University of New York (SUNY) Buffalo, he has conducted research and presented extensively about issues pertaining to local, national and international health care education, integration of technologies in clinical education and practice and in patient and relationship centered interpersonal communication. His current scholarship interests includes: integration of wearable XR tech within clinical dental education and surgical practice, dental/medical education and standardized and simulated OSCEs, post-humanistic person and relationship centered clinician-patient communication, human computer interaction and integrative health care technology, and access to oral health care for people living with cancer, special care, recent immigrants, and impoverished children.
