Contracting to outdoor education centres in the greater Brisbane area to provide safety concious outdoor experiences to school and higher education groups. Guiding various age groups from introductory sessions in climbing / abseil / high ropes / canoe / kayak / mountain biking / orienteering / camping / hiking / archery through to leadership guidance weeks for adults with structured learning from 'boundary pushed' team experiences.

After an 18-month selection process I was chosen to join Queensland Police as a member of Squad 174's recruit intake. Phase 1&2 policing exams, tactical firearms & driving courses were successfully completed. For personal reasons I decided not to continue the full duration of the training.

Contracted to deploy a new XenDesktop 7.15 LTSR instance in parallel to an existing farm for an aged care facility of over 500 users. Hosted on Nutanix servers I deployed redundant systems across two regional datacenter’s utilising PVS for Xenapp server imaging. Collaborated closely with the in-house administrators to provide the design, transition and documentation until completion.

Responsibilities were to plan the replacement of the emergency VHF Tsunami warning system & design all technical requirements for a new National Emergency Operations Centre over a proposed six-month period. Engaged with local technical resources to investigate technical requirements up until I was repatriated due to the Covid-19 response.

The role was to support all aspects of station IT Infrastructure: Wintel & Linux Server & Desktop systems for both project & BAU activities along with network upgrades. Projects included Fibre Optic refresh, server rack refresh, assisting with Citrix and VMWare upgrades, desktop SOE deployments, Cisco switch upgrades, VHF repeater rebuilds and overall project management of many smaller ongoing tasks – I was SAR / Fire team leader and overall Emergency Response Team leader for the station.

As ICT Officer for WFP my responsibility was to remediate the HF radio networks for the National Disaster Management Office (NDMO) of Fiji - Actioning supplier engagement, tender submission, stakeholder involvement etc. Other responsibilities included the design and procurement of ICT related hardware and services for WFP's recently commissioned country office, assistance in co-ordination and presentation of WFP's Pacific Island Emergency Telecommunications Cluster seminar in Apia, Samoa.

Returned as technical support aboard the icebreaker VNAA Aurora Australis on its resupply to Casey Station, Antarctica. Duties were to support the onboard IT & radio systems during the voyage along with the individual needs of the voyage management team and expeditioners. I also assisted science teams by monitoring data collection and overseeing the release and recovery of whale mooring experiments deployed onboard.

Heavily involved with planning the $11million Infrastructure budget for the 09/10 period as well as assisting with the $8.5 million budget for the tactical 10/11 period. Smaller projects of a sub $150k nature were often left to myself to manage to completion.
