I studied Ocean Science at Plymouth University and graduated in 2003. Being a keen diver with a developing interest in Underwater Archaeology, I decided to try and pursue a career in ROV operation with the view to eventually getting involved with the wreck discovery and salvage industry. After a short tenure operating ROV’s for the oil and gas industry, my career plans changed slightly and I eventually ended up in the offshore survey business working for Fugro Survey Limited. During my 8 years at Fugro, I was exposed to a variety of different offshore projects, where I enhanced my offshore surveying skills culminating in the role of ‘Party Chief’. Whilst offshore I also managed to gain lots of experience using Sonardyne acoustic positioning systems, both LBL and USBL. I joined Sonardyne in 2013 as part of the training team and having being involved with a number of LBL projects in the North Sea; in particular inverted LBL rig moves and also multiple subsea metrology operations, enabled me to utilise this experience to compliment my current role. More recently I have developed my skills further and I am now a fully qualified trainer through City and Guilds. I am also now the Lead Trainer at Sonardyne which involves managing, maintaining and updating anything related to training of our products.
