I am honoured to have been appointed as the Honorary Commander of the 495th Fighter Generation Squadron (known as the Valkyries) at RAF Lakenheath.The Honorary Commanders Program was developed to encourage an exchange of ideas, share experiences and foster friendships between key members of the local civilian and military communities.This is the official wording about the program, but essentially we’re a group of local people that care about the personnel on RAF Lakenheath, and are getting involved in helping to improve both relations and lives as much as we can - through as many means as we can find.It’s something I’ve only been in post of for a few months, but cannot speak highly enough of both the program and the other individuals associated with it.Valkyries Ride!
