At DHL I am a Senior member of the Solution Delivery team, with a specific responsibility as IPA country lead for Australia and New Zealand. My team implements complex best-of-breed warehouse and transport management systems for DHL Supply Chain. RPA is used as a supportive platform to assist in the automation of many of the administrative functions within the company. To date I have personally automated approximately 30 processes at DHL using RPA with UiPath. These processes, whilst previously mundane and time-consuming, are now seamless and run as background tasks; this has freed up hours and hours of staff time over the last year. My RPA work culminated in my reaching the finals for DHL Supply Chain New Zealand employee of the year in 2019.My time at DHL has bolstered my experience in the configuration, integration and overall implementation of Warehouse Management and Transport Management systems. This includes experience with cutting edge MHE technologies such as picking robots, automated storage systems, voice, pick-to-light and dimensioners.

As such, Information Technology is key to this strategy and key emphasis is placed on innovation and integration.My key project during my tenure as Senior IT Manager was to manage a full end-to-end Supply Chain IT Solution for the leading Telecommunications company in South Africa. The components of this solution included Warehouse Management across 14 sites, Transport Management, Inventory Management, Freight Forwarding and visibility across the entire platform.As a member of the management team I carried out typical management roles such as Staff Management, Project Management, Risk Management, Sales Support, Costing, Budget Management, Systems and Process Analysis, Client Relationship Management, Supplier Management, Compliance to Audit Requirements, Communication and Reporting.My 13 year tenure at Barloworld Logistics ended when I signed my contract with DHL Supply Chain New Zealand. My family and I had already made the decision to emigrate to New Zealand once I had been offered a job there.

In 2007 I decided to move from the Development space into Business Analysis. My time as a Senior Business Analyst involved roles in Project Management, Sales and Support.Some key projects I managed included a Freight Management System for a leading international apparel retailer, a Warehouse Management System for a leading international automotive company, a Transport Management Solution for an internal company and an electronic Proof of Delivery Solution for a large furniture retailer.For approximately 3 years I was deployed into a Sales role where I represented the broader Business Development team in the space of IT Solutions and Costing. The highlights of this period of my career included the sealing of some massive supply chain contracts, ranging from single-site to full supply chain in complexity.

This role combined system support and continuous improvement of IT systems that ran key contracts within Barloworld Logistics.My team was responsible for maintaining warehouse management, transport management and freight management systems for key automotive, retail and textile retail companies in South Africa, as well as a cellular company in Dubai.

My first role at Barloworld Logistics involved managing a young team of IT professionals who supported and developed systems for several key customers.During this time I was also deployed into building a warehouse management system for a large wine importer, which required me to analyse, specify and develop the solution.

This was the job where I cut my teeth in software development. NDC is a company that builds software for Quantity Surveyors, Civil Engineers and Architects. I joined as the third member of the company and developed the software with a partner; the software has been highly successful in the South African building industry and is still popular to this day.
