Cover the technical aspects of new build tender requirements, liaising with designers and suppliers to ensure newly designed vessels meet tender operational and technical requirements.Compile vessel specifications based on tender requirements, proposed designs and current/upcoming legislation. Issue Vessel specifications and company build standards to shipyards for quote.Negotiate with ship yards on build standards and makers lists to ensure compliant bids and delivery requirements.Ensure vessels are fully compliant with all statutory, regulatory, flag state bodies, customers and operational needs.Provide technical input into other projects as required by operational and commercial functions.Provide effective and timely technical guidance and support as required.Investigate suitability and efficiency of proposed equipment suppliers ensuring commonality and familiarisation across the fleet.

Review dry-docking work list, vessel inspection reports, surveys and customer requirements, for inclusion in the specification. Ensure timely preparation of an accurate and comprehensive vessel dry-dock specifications to submit for shipyards to tender.Review spare parts orders to ensure work can be carried out as specified. Compile an accurate estimation of the time required and estimated expenditure to complete the scope of work included in the specification. Liaise with Vessels Master and Chief Engineer as required and provide technical advice or other assistance where necessary. Liaise with Operations and Purchasing Departments to ensure timely delivery of goods to the selected Dry Dock. Liaise with yard management, sub-contractors, Operations Superintendents, Class and Administration to ensure all work is carried out in accordance with specifications and time schedules. Conduct daily meetings with yard management. Arrange the attendance and supervise where necessary all third party personnel not associated with the Dockyard, including Class Surveyors, Insurance Surveyors, Paint Inspectors and other sub-contractors. Supervise the entire dry docking or refit, including coordinating of all repairs, surveys, overhauls, safe working practices, care for the environment and ensure that all work meets the required specifications.Ensure that the vessels main engines, auxiliary machinery and equipment are surveyed in accordance with Class and Statutory requirements.Ensure the Operations Superintendent is fully informed on all matters relating to surveys, repairs and maintenance of the vessel. Provide final written reports as required, detailing in service repairs, dry-docking repairs and surveys, including costs incurred.
