I am passionate about humanising technology. Especially simplifying complex information. I have a history of designing, building, and testing UI frameworks and components for large development projects. And served as a technical expert in UI engineering for several years. I've been a team leader for a large part of my career. I've spent a large part of my career bridging the gap between UX and Engineering. I've worked in both design and code to a high standard. I started in book design. I mostly worked on directories, dictionaries, and thesauri. This introduced me to proper taxonomic and ontological analysis‒the basic building blocks of information architecture and design patterns. I moved on to designing reports; this included lots of statistics, charting, and storytelling with data. I transitioned to web design: some business sites but web applications mostly. Built web applications used by people in the special needs sector. So, Accessibility and Web standards have always been important to me. I've worked as an interaction designer/engineer, including animation, "micro-interactions", advanced information visualisation (3D graphics and charting)—using Java, WPF, ActionScript, but mostly JavaScript, HTML and CSS. More recent, using D3.js. I worked as a usability engineer using advanced analytics to measure and visualise user behaviour. In addition, I used to present sessions on design principles. I've produced a lot of UML, particularly state machines, process mapping and service diagramming. I'm rather proficient in Power Query (M) and Power BI. And I have proficiency in Python (pandas, SciPy, charting, etc.).
