To provide aspirational leadership within the college of science bridging Professional Service and College Teams, defining and leading outcomes which are aligned to the University's strategic aim of becoming a Top 20 University, and the College's aim of maintaining and improving our UK position.The focus is very much regarding the student journey, and the interwoven interaction all our students have to broaden their experiences as a valued partner within the College. Outcomes will be based around National Student Survey scores and Graduate Outcome KPIs, which feed into the Teaching Excellence Framework rankings across the College departments.Devise and deliver the first College of Science Employability Strategy to intergrate employability skills throughout the UG and PG curriculum. Create and opperationalise a suit of STEM year in Industry degree programmes

Working with key South East Wales regional public sector stakeholders alongside employer groups, key sector businesses and the Cardiff Capital Region to deliver an industry led regional delivery response to the Welsh Government Policy Statement on Skills.Taking a strategic focus on the development of the new ESF Employment and Skills programmes specifically in regard to HEI developments and STEM activity. The role also has a regional function overseeing programme development within South East Wales.

To project manage an ESF funded project called Technocamps. The project is led by Swansea University in partnership with the Universities of Bangor, Aberystwyth and Glamorgan. Technocamps will provide daily and weekly on campus sessions to pupils of all ages on a range of exciting topics, including robotics, games development, animation, digital forensics, software development and much more.The need for Computing within STEM subjects is paramount, but is so often overlooked, being dubbed the silent 'C' in STEM. Recent LMI provided by the SSC e-skills highlights that Welsh employers are finding it increasing difficult to fill vacancies in software design and development, and also new recruits to drive next generation ICT advances within a whole spectrum of disciplines. This is combined with the fact that 73% of all secondary school ICT teachers have no relevant ICT qualification. It is evident that the future skills base is going elsewhere, and leaving Wales behind.There is a clear distinction between ICT and Computing - we know children are learning how to use ICT tools, but not learning about the fundamental building blocks that is the backbone to the ICT they use. Going forward we need developers, not just users.Computing as a subject can only be first picked up at A level; often students have undertaken a progressionary route from an ICT GCSE, and find that Computing is an entirely different discipline, become detached and change subject - in other words its too late.Tehcnocamps will look to address the above through a number of initiatives. Firstly working with schools, bringing the children on to the university campus and providing them with experiential sessions; role model talks and career progression information. Technocamps will also look to promote a 'technoclub' concept to be delivered in schools over the longer term. e-modules will be available for teachers to deliver in the class room enhancing the current curriculum.

Oversee delivery of the Basic and Higher skills ESF P3.1 and P3.2 frameworks. Act as key point of contact for Interreg 4a for DEfS (formally DCELLS). Provide technical and strategic support for internal WAG EU funded projects and external projects within these frameworks, working closely with internal departments and external organisations mainly in the field of FE and HE.

Develop and deliver support to major ESF and ERDF projects through the effective management a large multi partnership consiting of 11 LA partners. Progress and resolve highly contentious and delicate issues effectively.

Durring the merger I worked as a field officer for the Tir Gofal Agri-environmental programme, providing advice and support to farmers signed up to the scheme.

Managed the Leader+ (EU funded) and the domestically funded Rural Programmes across Wales. Managed and oversaw the team in the 4 regions. Also provided key input to the policy development of the RDP axis 3 and 4 (2007-13)

Managed a portfolio of EU and domestic funded programmes in the South West region, working in partnership with local development groups to assist in the economic prosperity of rural areas.

Harmonised and managed the community transport schemes in the City and County, improving standards and ensuring equity for the end user.
