Basically a new ‘factory’ built inside existing building shell. Very complex project ran under highly confidential circumstances.• Integrating additional 1,000 tonnes for European Market. Work closely with the Group Engineering Manager who was responsible for Maintenance Engineering Maintenance to cover holidays and absence.Achievements• Developed new production facilities for smoked white fish, wet fish and relayed out packing area to achieve greater flexibility and capacity.• Key contributor aiding business growth from £90m-£130m turnover with £30m growth predicted.• Line efficiencies have also increased 30% with the implementation of several key projects.• Delivered projects within tight timescales, whilst maintaining production capacities.• Subject matter expert leasing with New Product Development team.

Project EngineerUnited Biscuits Sep 1998 - May 2004Accountable for Projects ranging in budgets from £1k to £5.3m - Project consistency, efficiency, safety (Puwer) and customer requirements.Achievements• Installed the first Asi and Asi safe system into McVities, which is now standard on a number of sites. • Integral part of the ‘Footprint’ project team which closed Ashby biscuits. Transferred Ginger Nut production to Carlisle installing a new line with increased capacity and fully automated the process. Footprint was upward of 30 Projects £22m in total. The Lion share was for Ginger Nuts £5.3m.• Delivered a McVities first, changing Ginger Nut packaging from the historic square ended roll wrap to a new flow-wrapped pack. Concept allowed easier automation of the packing process at increased speeds. Improving the capacity from Ashby by 50% and decreasing headcount by 20 FTE’s. • Instrumental in the design of the new Biscuits for Cheese range of packaging using a 3 flap system formed and loaded on a bespoke machine giving a ‘Chocolate Box’ effect when opening. The project was £250k which paid back in 6 months on material and labour. • Intrinsic part of the team developing contractor control and project procedures and documentation that was implemented throughout the Northern Region of McVities. • Collaborated with the Group Electrical Engineer to developing the United Biscuits Electrical Specification. • Key member of the Downtime Review Team, reviewing all breakdowns over 30min long and taking specific action to prevent reoccurrence. • Assisted in the development of lock-off and isolation procedure, subsequently implemented throughout the United Biscuits Group. • Key player in developing planned maintenance system, life cycle calculations of components and implemented condition monitoring on new equipment reducing downtime and spares stock levels as it could be planned in when spares would be required, less money sitting on the shelves. Also helped stores spend to be predicted.
