I am a Mechanical E.I.T. who recently completed a Sustainable Energy Development degree at the University of Calgary. Before returning to school to get my master's degree, I worked as an Integrity E.I.T. and an emergency management contractor. I decided to return to school and get my master’s because emerging technologies can help combat climate change while improving efficiency. From my education and work experience, I have developed a broad set of engineering skills that include the following:· Energy Modeling using TRNSYS· Clean Energy Project Analysis (RETScreen and SAM)· Drafting using AutoCAD and SolidWorks· Project Management· Quality Management· Industrial Safety· Project Estimation· Integrity Engineering· Research SkillsBefore I returned to school, I worked for CANEIL, an Integrity Engineering company that primarily provided inspection and engineering services for pressure equipment. While at CANEIL, I developed my technical skills by completing fitness for service assessments and assisting with inspections. I also acquired expertise in quality management as I wrote and improved numerous controlled technical documents and provided internal auditing services to clients. Furthermore, I also served as a project manager, an opportunity that I used to improve my communication skills and learn. As part of my master’s program, I completed a capstone project. My project examined the opportunity to use waste heat combined with an ORC to meet a Canadian greenhouse's heating and electrical demands. I enjoyed this project as it focused on energy utilization, examining ways to generate revenue without creating more carbon emissions. To analyze this idea, I completed a techno-economic feasibility assessment. This project allowed me to develop strong energy analysis skills and a deep understanding of HVAC equipment and principles. As part of the analysis, I also further developed my project estimation and capital budgeting skills, which I believe will help me as I return to the industry.Outside of engineering, I enjoy the athletic activity. I love trying new sports, such as soccer and badminton and am eager to learn new skills in all aspects of my life. I pick up new skills quickly, and I am good at applying past experiences to new endeavours.
