About Stuart Watson
I have been working in the Blue collar recruitment industry since 2008. I joined Russell Taylor associates in March of that year as a trainee and quickly established myself, Winning a number of large accounts with in my first two months which gave me a great foundation to building a high volume desk. Over the years I have recruited for electrical & mechanical personnel with oil and gas working onshore and off shore / Electrical and Mechanical personnel in the petrochemical industry to high volume Scaffolding and Industrial services personnel across the country. I was lucky enough to have the chance to spend six month in Houston, Texas recruiting within the Oil and Gas industry which was an excellent learning experiences for my recruitment career and development. Since my return in November 2011 I took over the Management of the Site Projects team here at Russell Taylor, working within a competitive market we continued to expand our clients by maintaining an Honest, Visible and Reliable approach to our recruitment process. In 2019 my position changed and I decided to concentrated my focus on business development taking on the role of the National Industrial service BDM, Taking the time to develop new and long lasting relationships with new and existing clients across the country. This has been a highly successful set up for our industrial services division as it allow the recruiters to concentrate on finding the best possible candidates for our clients whilst allowing me the time to develop the client relationships and to always be a port of call day or night for our clients should there be any issues.
Listed skills include Technical Recruiting, Sourcing, Energy, Contract Negotiation, and 7 others.

Business Development Director (Industrial Trades & Engineering)
Current
Business Development Manager - Industrial Trades & Engineering Division
Operating nationally, my main focus is to manage the Russell Taylor key accounts and develop new business opportunities within the Process and Industrial trades & engineering sectors. Following 10+ year experience gained as a recruitment consultant and manager I understand my client’s requirements and frustrations whilst knowing the market limitations. This knowledge and experience allows me to have a fully transparent and honest approach to my business development. I am a firm believer in delivering on what you promise. In a competitive market where others promise the earth and deliver very little I believe my honest and focused approach to be key to building long lasting and trusting relationships with my clients.
Site Projects Divisional Manager
From my return from Houston with Air energi I re-joined my team back with Russell Taylor, In my time away most accounts had been taken over by colleagues. This meant that I had a blank canvass to use what I had learnt in Houston to rebuild my desk, but to rebuild bigger and strong than before. I soon established a number of very key accounts that used contract labour around the world in very large numbers, this resulted in the expansion of our team to include a key account administrator to help me manage the large numbers of contractors working for me globally. Through this time of re-establishing myself in the UK market I was offered the opportunity by my MD Ben Russell to head up the management of the Site Projects Team, the team that I had helped to build with my predecessor. This was an opportunity that I could not pass up on! Although small at this time (consisting of 4 consultants) it was the chance to take the team & my career to the next level, enabling the team and myself to grow with Russell Taylor. As Site Projects Divisional manager and Key accounts consultant it has been essential for me to ensure my team and myself are focussed on the task in hand daily, this has been achieved by introducing structures and targets to our days as appose to somewhat micro management style that we had experienced previously. The demand can change hour by hour so we must always remain reactive to our client’s requirements, this does means that our plans must adapt quickly to make sure we are maximising every opportunity and servicing our clients to the best standard possible. In a competitive market like ours a quick reaction to requirements is essential and this is achieved by a focused and a hardworking team all pulling the right direction. I am very proud to say that Site projects team is a good example of a team that works as a team and succeeds together as a team, our wins are shared and are not possible without team work and focus.
Consultant
In early 2011 I was offered the opportunity to travel to Houston Texas and work for one world leaders in Oil & Gas recruitment (AirEnergi). This was an opportunity to work away from home in one of the strongest Oil and Gas markets at that present time whilst expanding my recruitment skills. My recruitment history prior to Houston was mainly that of a fast paced blue collar temporary recruitment, Houston educated me to the Permanent / Long term contract White collar recruitment style that is the norm in that market. Learning the importance of candidate management has since enabled me to intergrade these skill into all other recruitment styles. Although a short term position a fantastic learning & life experience.
Senior Recruitment Consultant
From reaching the position of General Manager within the restaurant industry I soon realised that the standard of life would never improve if I was to stay. I saw the position advertised by Russell Taylor for a trainee recruitment consultant advertised on a job board and decided I had to give it a go for a chance to change my career before it was too late. A number of my friends worked in recruitment at that time so I was able to gain a good understanding of the process before successfully being offered the position. From the first day of starting in recruitment and learning everything from sales techniques, recruiting and candidate management I enjoyed it. I devoted a great amount of personal time to learn the M&E engineering trades and types of projects that I was recruiting for, this resulted in a highly successful start. I was able to win a number of medium sized accounts very quickly and soon established myself as a consultant with a steady revenue. I continued to work hard and ably myself to learn everything I could about the market, continuously conducted my candidate’s calls and reference checks and followed up every lead generated. I am very proud that in this short time I grew a very established desk of regular clients & candidates and after 9 months of competitive billings I was promoted to Senior Consultant.
