I am an HCPC registered Clinical Scientist and Chartered Engineer working within the NHS in the field of Clinical Engineering. I have 24 years experience in biomedical engineering and medical devices R&D: 11 years in academic research, and 13 years within the NHS.Currently I am Head of Clinical Engineering at the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust. In this role I am responsible for services covering medical devices R&D, clinical computing, surgical planning (3d modelling and printing, VR) and non-ionising radiation QA. I act as advisor on medical devices regulatory issues for the Trust.My professional interests are in providing medical colleagues with the R&D engineering support needed to effectively translate new technology into clinical service for the benefit of patients, and in promoting the role of engineering within healthcare.
