About Stuart Boon

As Senior Teaching Fellow, Programme Manager, and Academic Development Lead at University of Strathclyde, I currently oversee 4 MSc programmes, consisting of 22+ modules, that deliver bespoke pathways for development in academic practice, researcher, knowledge exchange, and teaching and learning in Higher Education. I oversee a further two CPD programmes driving teaching excellence and research leadership at the University. I lead a team of eight colleagues to effectively deliver this training for the University, working within the larger Organisation and Staff Development Unit. I have extensive experience in designing, managing, teaching, mentoring and advising individuals, groups and specialist audiences. Within and outside the university, I act as a consultant, referee, adviser, and external examiner. I convene and contribute to national bodies and committees, disseminate research through international, peer-reviewed journals, and peer-review research for international journals. My research interests include academic writing, researcher development, knowledge exchange, curriculum design, and e-learning. I am highly motivated, resourceful, and passionate about teaching, research, and knowledge exchange. I enjoy collaborating with others, working as a leader or member of a team, and pride myself on being adaptable, capable and responsible.

I am further a member of the Higher Education Developers Community (HEDC) group, and the Heads of Educational Development Group (HEDG). I act as External Examiner for Glasgow Caledonian University's educational development provision. Within the wider sector, I frequently act as an external consultant, visiting lecturer, and referee.

    I worked as a lecturer and educational developer in the University of Strathclyde's Centre for Academic Practice and Learning Enhancement (CAPLE). The book I am most known for is "Shadows Over Scotland" which won the 2012 Origins Award for Best Roleplaying Supplement or Adventure, the 2012 Gold ENnie Award for Best Setting, and the 2011 DiehardGameFan Award for Best Adventure Collection. I continue to write for numerous game publishers, including Chaosium, Stygian Fox, Cubicle 7, Pseudopod Games, and Golden Goblin Press.I am a guest lecturer on Edge Hill University's 'Writing for Roleplaying Games' course and regularly give talks at Universities (most recently Strathclyde University and Edinburgh University) and at gaming conventions.
