Infrastructure Project Manager (Consultant)
Overland Park, Kansas, Us
• As the Infrastructure manager, directed the build of the infrastructure of Nextel’s $1.7 billion project that implemented the new Nextel billing, provisioning, and customer care system. Rollout affected 10 million customers, 6000 customer care representatives, Nextel Retail stores, and Nextel Direct sales.• Vendor Management of the main 3rd party vendor that built the solution and ran the daily operations. I was the only focus point needed to stream all technical aspects affecting Nextel. When I finished on the project, they replaced me with a 4 person team.• Audited the level of effort and scope of “Change Orders”. After traveling to Israel to investigate further, the price of 5 of the change orders was reduced by $600K.• Disaster Recovery planning to replicate the data and how to re-assert data integrity of all the updates. There was also a heavy emphasis on contingency for a “Catastrophic Outage” where operations stayed on site, but planning to restore a functioning system.• Supported the 40 person test team in their effort to pass 10,000 test cases on 4 cycles per conversion. Management of the test, performance, and training environments. I noticed that the performance team was too focused on the web transactions so analyzed the performance from the client transactions and this showed significant latency issues. My analysis highlighted that the performance team were collecting but not analyzing data.• Debugged all connectivity issues for all environments – Test, Production, Performance, Client, Web, Training, External vendors. Was the company expert on the issues to connect to the Citrix farm, and wrote white papers for desktop support to allow them to effectively support the company.
