Much of his activity within HIMSS has been related to the goals of reducing transactional friction (a.k.a., "Administrative Simplification") in healthcare with some specific focus on the emergence of a consumer centric view of healthcare revenue and payment cycle solutions. Hanson chaired the HIMSS RCITF for 2 years (2014-16) and led the effort to define a consumer centric vision for healthcare revenue cycle. Hanson subsequently continued to advocate for industry evolution in RCM in his role chairing the parent committee to the HIMSS RCITF, the Health Business Solutions Committee, for 2 years from 2016-2018.As chair of the HIMSS Health Business Solutions Committee (http://www.himss.org/get-involved/committees/health-business-solutions), Hanson led the committee as it worked to identify and promote the effective use of financial and administrative systems for healthcare organizations.
