Reporting directly to the Managing Director and Financial Director of the company, my responsibilities within this role included;Defining the scope of the projectDesigning a system capable of meeting the immediate and future requirements of the company.Providing and managing a project plan and budget for the proposed system and method of implementationProcuring new hardware and software, as required.Planning and conducting suitable training of the ex-HSS Event Hire staff on the JHS stock control systemManaging and training the local IT staff in the implementation and support of the systemProviding technical knowledge to IT and service staff during the implementation process The project was completed by implementing a hub/spoke wide area network using VPN tunnels over a DSL network, allowing the remote clients to access the centralised HP Unix system using a telnet client. A new file and email system was also implemented throughout all depots, using a centralised Windows 2003/Exchange 2003 system and a locked down desktop at the client end using Active Directory policies on Windows XP Pro.The project was completed in December 2004, within the required timescales and budget.
