Having witnessed the deterioration of a loved one’s mental health to near fatal consequences, I am on a mission to be more aware and to make others more aware. To this end, I have completed a MSc in Workplace Health and Wellbeing (previously named Occupational Health Psychology), ISO45003 qualified and passed the NEBOSH’s National Certificate in the Management of Health and Wellbeing at Work (50 hours study which is assessed by a practical project and a written exam).I am passionate about making a difference in this area and to organisations - to this end am on the leadership team for Let’s Improve Workplace Wellbeing and on the advisory board for Thrivall, a proactive mental health and wellbeing programme provider.Unlike some, I have 25 years working in health and fitness and recruitment. I have earned the trust and delivered for hundreds of companies and stakeholders. Having interviewed over 10,000 candidates, 90% were unhappy with their current manager, salary or workplace and sought alternative employment. As a workplace health and wellbeing advocate, I can now help change the work environment so the grass may not be greener…Not only that, I have negotiated contracts and secure new jobs for over 500 candidates (non-volume). In between the day job, I have also been trusted to successfully manage and support multiple global projects, manage external contractors and mentor colleagues.I have also had the experience of witnessing poor health and wellbeing up close and personal and seen the effects. I can see how companies struggle to understand employee wellbeing.More often than not, health and wellbeing issues are created by work and nobody leaves their personal matters at the door anymore. Businesses need to protect themselves from possible malpractice, increased absenteeism, dysfunctional presenteeism, leaveism, poor morale and low productivity.
