I am Technical Director in the Beca Power group. I have worked for Beca since 1999 after leaving Parsons Brinkerhoff (Power), formerly DesignPower. Since joining Beca I have completed a variety of work mainly in the power transmission, distribution and generation industry. This work has included development investigations, switchgear replacement cost benefit studies, HV switchyard rationalisations, new HV switchyard layouts, switchyard earthing system design, transformer replacements and arranging certification of revenue metering equipment. I have also worked on the conceptual and detailed design for substations and reticulation systems for a number of wind farm projects. Highlights of my career include managing the design for the Meridian Energy Te Apiti and White Hill wind farms and the design of the Transpower 220 kV switchyards at both ends of the 400 kV capable line installed for the NIGUP project. I have also been involved with designing the 220 kV switchyard extensions at both Haywards Substation and Benmore Power Station for connecting the inter-island HVDC Pole 3 link.
