In September of 2015, I launched my very own clothing line that embraces both creativity and conservation. Tracey Moon Recyclables was a fun and educational project for me to immerse myself in the apparel and digital marketing world. My goal was to produce clothing that fused vintage styles with contemporary twists. In doing so, I hoped to recycle old clothing, ranging from a variety of fabrics, textures, and patterns, into modern products that were essentially one-a-kind.I envisioned an ecommerce site full of custom products, such as hats, school bags, laptop cases, fanny packs, women's dresses, and a signature item, the pocket tee.The driving force behind our brand is recycling second-hand clothing for both creativity as well as the conservation of previously-owned garments. On average, American adults throw away 15-30 pounds of clothes every year. Once these textiles reach the landfill, they cannot be repurposed. Clothing waste has become a tremendous problem in America, as well as the rest of the world. I hope to someday pick up where I last left off: finding a cut and sew factory that can create my unique garments. Tracey Moon was so fun for me back in college, and I look forward to the next chapter!
