Maintenance
My experience at James K. Stubblefield D.D.S has taught me about responsibility, accountability, and time management. As my first job, I quickly learned that my work affects the reputation of my employer. I had to make sure that my work gave the office an atmosphere that was clean and welcoming for patients. An important skill that I have gained is time management, as all of my work at the office has to completed either in the evening or on the weekend when the office is closed. Some of my activities included:-Organize office space such as keeping the counters and reception area in order-Clean office once per week, from cleaning counters and dental chairs to vacuuming, creating a sanitary workplace-Maintain an orderly office space allowing for a pleasant environment and atmosphere for both employees and patients-Structured a schedule that did not conflict with the operations and day to day activities of the office
Practicum Student
During my practicum with the Gateway Grizzlies Baseball Organization, I was immersed in the different areas that make a sports franchise operate. These areas included spending days with the Manager, Director of Broadcasting and Media Relations, the Director of Community Relations and In Game Entertainment, Assistant General Manager, and the Groups and Corporate Sales Coordinator. The ability to spend time with each area of operation allowed me the experience to understand the reality of an organization that has to coordinate many moving parts to ensure the success of its product, in this case a memorable fan experience and successful team on the field. Some of my activities included:-Assisted the promotional team in coordinating on field activities for children, including a kids parade, dance with the staff, and many more, creating a memorable fan experience designed to increase the desire for fans to return to the ballpark-Instructed on the process of forming and upholding both ends of a contract with sponsors through advertisement, payment, and trade, by the assistant general manager-Experienced the development of building successful relationships with corporate sponsors by providing the necessary comfort for employees and their families during their experience at the ballpark
Lawn Care And Maintenance
Much like my time at James K. Stubblefield D.D.S, I learned more about responsibility, accountability, and time management. Lawn care and maintenance seems like a minor detail when thinking about a wealth management office. A well kept lawn and landscape is inviting to customers and provides an appealing look to the office building. Shortly into my time at Cardinal Investments I realized that I would need to hire an associate to complete the work in a timely manner. With this added help, scheduling and time management became increasingly important as I had to coordinate a time that both my partner and I could work while the office was not in operation. Some of my activities included:-Maintained the grounds of the company as needed including mowing grass and trimming the area around the office to provide a well kept look-Scheduled my own working time in order to not interfere with daily business-Hired an associate to assist me with the maintenance and paid them as they were able to work
Student Observer
A student observer at The Bank of Edwardsville was my first experience in learning how a business operates after starting business school. Professional communication is a skill that I had to pick up quickly as most of my communication with my superiors was through email. I compiled my research into a formal report that I presented to my boss with the needed information regarding commercial real estate in St. Clair County, IL, to explore options for additional spacing, and loans to customers. Some of my activities included: - Conducted research on the current market for commercial and non commercial office space in the Belleville/Swansea area-Compiled a detailed report on the market research conducted on the office space - Produced a mock appraisal using the sales comparison approach for a building after reading through appraisals and using them as references
Team Leader
Luke 18 is an experience that I will never forget. As a student at the Kelley School of Business, many of my assignment consist of group work. I was fortunate to have gained experience as part of a diverse team through my time as a team leader at Luke 18. This gave me an advantage compared to my peers that has allowed my numerous groups to excel. I learned a lot about myself and what motivates me to succeed after my involvement with the Luke 18 retreat. Some of my activities included:-Taught kids as a leader of a small group about challenging things in their lives and how to handle situations as they may arise in the future-Developed activities for grade school kids allowing them to learn about topics that they may experience in high school that were relatable to them-Bonded and excelled as a group of three high school students using activities to allow the kids to enjoy the experience, work as one, and be determined to excel as a group
