Meaningful Matter BV develops circular and sustainable clay bodies, glazes and production methods for the ceramic industry. We harvest local (high fired) ceramic waste streams to replace non-renewable resources in clay and glaze. We work closely together with social partners to create an inclusive circular chain from waste to product.

Circular Ceramics Studio Dec 2022 - Present
    Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Nederland
CircularCeramics.Studio is focussing on research and production of circular ceramics. We create value within the ceramic production chain by using ALL stages of ceramic waste. We look at the specific quality of the waste and reuse it to make new ceramics, always showcasing the beauty of the material. The result is a collection of clay bodies, grog and glazes for multi purpose products. We are aiming for a closed production cycle and embrace ceramic waste of other production houses, restaurants, companies and individuals for the production of new designs. Get in touch with us for collaborations and inquiries.

About Studio Lotte DouwesIn my studio I research, develop and produce products (own and commissioned). My designs are characterized by simple solutions that approach the world around us from a different perspective. I like to bring a dynamic element into my designs. My main focus lies on ceramics in which I developed unique circular production methods. The pas years I spend a lot of time researching the beauty of ceramic waste and how it can be used within the same production chain. In this way, all waste and leftovers become valuable and helps reducing resources. This philosophy became the blue print of the studio and is implemented in all my designs. I'm currently working on a special collaboration with high end restaurants and can't wait to share more about it.My designs are often practical objects and solution oriented. I find it important to bring a tactile quality into my designs and I have a great eye for detail, which results in products that invite you to touch them.About myselfI am driven by a passion to create. With experience in leading (large) complex projects, I enjoy working with different disciplines and in teams. I am passionate about everything I do, open minded, solution oriented, curious and inventive. My inspiration comes from sharing my knowledge and ideas and working with other people. I set clear goals, have an eye for detail and never loose sight of the bigger picture. For a complete overview of my work, please visit my website www.lottedouwes.nl.

    Curator Exhibitions
Studio Lotte Douwes Jan 2018 - Jun 2018
    Graz, Styria, Austria
Commissioned by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Austria I curated a Dutch Design Exhibition ‘We are here, now!’. With a small team we designed every part of the exhibition, from concept, to exhibition design, to the communication. To give the designers a stage and connect them with local businesses, we organised an event in collaboration with Alice Story Liechtenstein and held open interview sessions. We are here, now:In this exhibition, we question ourselves as designers, producers, thinkers, doers and as world citizens - where do we want to be and how do we get there? As designers we are eager to solve problems. We are aware of what surrounds us and strive to push the boundaries that will bring us closer to a world of our own making. To achieve this goal we must sometimes let go of the logical path in order to clear the way for new perspectives. The solutions we create are informed by the observation of our surroundings, the people we work with, and an understanding of the resources we design for. We are Dutch designers and look at the world from a down-to-earth perspective. We respect, but also rethink and reimagine what is already here. We embrace the differences that bring us together, offering beauty in the uncommon and unexpected. To build our world we search, we try, we do, we make. We are here, now. • Dutch Design Foundation
    Program Manager
Dutch Design Foundation Feb 2018 - Oct 2021
    Eindhoven Area, Netherlands
At Dutch Design Foundation I worked as a program and participant manager. A various function with various tasks regarding program and participants of Dutch Design Week. I scout young talents and participants for DDW and set up programs build around DDW themes or content. It's a broad function with ad-hoc (office) tasks, projectplanning, budgetplanning and programming. Our team interprets participant information and trends for press, communication, strategy, business and tours. I lead a small team with experts working in the same field. Together we help 2500 participants into realizing 450 events at DDW. We find and connect them to locations, give them the stage fitting their projects and connect them to the right audience. I develop long and short term strategies to keep our position on level of excellence within the design field. In 2018 I was responsable for programming our own locations (Klokgebouw, Veem and Ketelhuisplein), In 2019 I worked on several projects to scout talents, such as Dutch television program Toekomstbouwers or World Design Embassies exhibitions.
  • Dutch Design Foundation
    Projectmanager Antenna
Dutch Design Foundation Jun 2019 - Dec 2019
    Eindhoven, Noord-Brabant, Nederland
AntennaFor Dutch Design Foundation I was involved with project management of Antenna. Antenna is a platform for young, international design talent, initiated by Design Indaba and Dutch Design Week. The very best of a next generation that will have a positive impact on the world with new insights, clear ideals and strong ambition. No superficial products or big names, but people searching for answers to global challenges. Antenna gives them a voice and the chance to change the world. For this third edition we upscaled the conference being held in Parktheater Eindhoven. Together with Design Indaba I was responsible for the selection of 20 talents out of 300 applications. I was responsible of the overall production of both the conference in Parktheater as well as the exhibition in Klokgebouw. The 20 selected international talents were prepped by DI to give a highly professional yet dynamic performance of their short presentation on stage.Together with Design Indaba I worked on professionalisation of the programme on stage. Alongside our main Antenna programme, we (team DDF) further professionalized Antenna as platform and outlined a side programme for the 20 talents throughout Dutch Design Week, focusing on broadening their network, connecting with stakeholders, businesses and other designers and give them stage time in World Design Embassies to talk about their unique project. We designed a special campaign to attract a highly professional and international audience to inspire and connect with the talents and plant seeds for fruitful future projects for both parties. I was responsible for production and organisation of overall Antenna, the side programme as well as planning a day to day hospitality programme of all talents and team Design Indaba. For facts and figures about this successful edition, please visit www.ddw.nl or antenna.foundation
