Psychologist on the Community Living CenterI am currently working on the Community Living Center at the Fargo VA. I specialize in the treatment of a geriatric population with varying psychological concerns. I routinely work with individuals who are experiencing symptoms of adjustment disorders, depression, anxiety, personality disorders, dementia and various cognitive deficiencies. I work closely with doctors, nurse practitioners, social workers, physical therapists, occupational therapists, nurses, nurse managers, chaplains and recreational therapists. I help support staff in dealing with difficult patients and provide psychoeducation to both staff and families of Veterans. I also develop detailed behavior plans and conduct capacity assessments on a routine basis. I am also the Behavior Consultant and lead program developer for STAR-VA at the Fargo VA Health Care System.

I am the Assistant Director of Training for the Fargo VA Pre-Doctoral Internship Program. I assist the Training Director with recruitment, application review/interviews and serve as the primary supervisor for the Inpatient Consultation Rotation. I lead various didactics during the training year and assist in education opportunities for interns.

I worked with veterans in a rural, primary care setting. I specialized in the treatment of adults with concerns ranging from depression/anxiety, PTSD, Various Trauma, ADHD, adjustment concerns, relationship problems, and psychotic disorders. My main treatment modality was Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (CBT) but I also employed techniques from Interpersonal, Solution Focused and Feminist therapies. I have been trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and was supervised by a psychologist certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I).

I was an instructor for IMPACT Personal Safety offered through the Women's Center at the University of North Dakota.

I taught sections of various Psychology courses for MState. I most recently instructed a section of General Psychology at a remote rural location in Detroit Lakes.

I worked at the UND Women's Center as a graduate assistant. I planed and organized outreach programs within the university and in the community. I provided educational materials and presentations in relation to sexual assault, domestic violence, healthy intimate relationships and other women's issues. I routinely took part in marketing and public relations tasks for the Women's Center and worked with my colleagues to increase awareness for women's issues and concerns. I was also in charge of 6 undergraduate assistants and supervised their work at the Women's Center.

I worked as a behavioral health specialist at Valley Community Health Systems, an integrated health care clinic in Grand Forks, ND. I routinely saw patients that have been referred to me by primary care providers working in the clinic. I assessed patient's behavioral health and worked with providers to provide the best care for patients. I discussed patient cases with physicians and nurses and acted as an advocate for patient needs in the clinic and community. Through the clinic I worked with a broad range of individuals from different socioeconomic statuses, ethnicities, religious backgrounds and mental health concerns. The population I served most frequently are those with limited resources and options for care.

I worked at Grand Forks Air Force Base in the 319th Medical Wing. I was mental health provider in the Behavioral Health unit and worked with a variety of professionals including social workers, addictions specialists and psychologists. I saw patients with issues ranging from depression/anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, psychotic disorders and adjustment disorders. I conducted fitness for duty evaluations and made recommendations for continued service in the military. I also conducted evaluations to assess readiness for individuals wanting to make a military career as Military Training Instructors. I routinely did assessments for ADHD and wrote reports/made recommendations for treatment and medication referrals.

Through my time at UND I have been a graduate teaching assistant for the Social Work and Counseling Psychology departments. I taught the lab component of the masters level group counseling course in the Counseling Psychology department. I have also taught the lab components of Cognitive Assessment and Personality Assessment courses as wellI and past positions have included teaching/supervising master's level interns and teaching a master's level statistics lab as well as a school counseling group course for distance students.

I was the instructor of record for a course in the Recreation and Tourism Department at the University of North Dakota. I oversaw all aspects of the course including, but not limited to: Weekly lectures, preparing tests and quizzes, developing assignments, grading, and responding to student concerns.

I was the instructor of record for the graduate level Counseling Methods course at the University of North Dakota. I taught a 3 hour section of class weekly, as well as oversaw the students progress through the course. I supervised a doctoral level lab instructor, monitoring the administration of skills and the student's development. I also served in a "gate keeping" role, using my professional skills to determine if the students are ready to move on in their graduate training.

I saw clients on a weekly basis with concerns ranging from depression/anxiety, social anxiety disorder, adjustment disorders, relationship concerns, along with others. I occasionally assisted a forensic psychologist on various cases within the community, looking at interrogation techniques and reviewing victim statements, court transcripts and police reports to collaborate with the investagor timelines. I routinely gave ADHD and other assorted assessments to aid an in house psychologist with ADHD diagnoses. I developed and gave presentations to the medical and mental health teams in the medical residency and fielded questions after.

I provided mental health care to the residents in Park River, North Dakota, as well as other surrounding communities. My work included individual therapy with adults, children, families and couples, group therapy, cognitive/personality assessments and consultation. I was also an active advocate for mental health services in various rural communities around North Dakota.

I was the primary instructor for an Introduction to Psychology course. I designed lectures, created quizzes and exams, graded exams, lectured and interacted with students several times a week.

I was a research assistant for a social psychologist in the psychology department as well as a teaching assistant for the Counseling Methods course.
