Van Stuijvenberg Financial Services offers quantitative applications and consultancy for institutional investors. VSFS major operating field is financial risk management at asset liability level. The applications VSFS developed since 2002 are in use by many Dutch pension funds, asset managers and their consultants. To manage solvency risk VSFS helped many pension schemes to implement duration and inflation overlays. In 2006 Mercer and VSFS signed a contract for long term cooperation. Mercer obtained licences for the VSFS risk management applications. Mercer and VSFS agreed to further develop the applications. Improvements will be available for both Mecer and VSFS clients. The cooperation is set up to improve and scale services while maintaining independency. VSFS remains the sole owner of all applications.

Mercer Investment Consulting and Van Stuijvenberg Financial Services in 2006 signed a contract for long term cooperation. Mercer obtained long term licences for the Van Stuijvenberg Financial Services risk tools to service their Dutch clients. Mercer and Van Stuijvenberg Financial Services will further develop the tools to improve functionality. The improvements will be available for both Mercer and Van Stuijvenberg Financial Services clients. For implementation, development of the tools and advise Jan Willem van Stuijvenberg will be present at Mercer for one day per week. The cooperation is set up to improve and scale services while maintaining independency. Ownership of the tools remains at Van Stuijvenberg Financial Services.

Participated in a job rotation program for experienced professionals at Philips Pension Fund. During this program I did research on the monetary conditions index and developed an alternative model to measure financial conditions. Further I looked into detail at inflation-linked bonds and collateralised debt obligations. For the credit portfolio manager I made an advanced tool to monitor the market.

Financial analyst at De Lage Landen International BV. For this lease company - which is part of Rabobank - I created an application to monitor the market value, profitability and risk of lease-portfolios. I played a key role when the company was considering to buy lease portfolios from other lease companies and investigated the possibility to securitize part of the De Lage Landen portfolio for diversification purposes.

Junior Strategist at the ABP Pension Fund. For the asset allocation department I did research on the economy and the attractiveness of different asset classes. I did research on the earnings yield gap and developed a model which optimises and calculates active risk relative to the ABP benchmark portfolio. For monitoring the financial markets I published a weekly handout covering the developments in economic and financial fundamentals.
