I am responsible for developing new learning opportunities for ACH's tenants and learners from the wider community. My role involves the design of tailored training programmes for people with few or no qualifications. I manage a team of trainers and support staff to make this happen. I am responsible for procurement and contract management within training. I am able to promote new approaches to learning and development as/when appropriate.

Coordinating new and innovative approaches to language support for migrant communities. Managing the Language for Rights project which aimes to improve and complement ESOL provision in Bristol.This is a project working across a number of local government departments and other key ESOL providers and stakeholders.

English Language & Citizenship Programme: Commissioning and managing ESOL services with the VCS sector with clear pathways for ESOL learners to access Information, Advice & Guidance and further training for employment and volunteering purposes.MIF Support to School programme: Delivered a School programme looking at the impacts of changing school population. Links with equalities and community cohesion issues. Delivered capacity building work with school leaders and other education leaders in Bristol in conjuction with ICoCo. Overseeing of Bilingual Learning Support Assistants deployed in various schools meeting language needs of newly arrived pupils.

Managed a team of bilingual family mentors whom undertook family/social intervention casework with newly arrived families from migrant/asylum seeking and refugee communities. Some aspects of our area of work included advocacy work, advice and guidance and ensuring families are accessing the various family services available to them such as:CAF-Common Assessment FrameworkParenting programmesUnderstanding school systems-liaising with school teachersHousing services for families in homeless or temporary accomodationESOL training

Working with young people at risk of offending and isolation from mainstream society. Developing services to engage young people and their families.

Working with victims of racial harassment and abuse across the Avon area which covers Bristol, Baines & Souith Gloucestershire. Raising awareness of racial harassment, discrimination with professionals and other stake holders. Working in partnership with statuary organisations to develop positive outcomes for communities faced by racial harassment and inequality. Cases varied from verbal abuse to GBH and other serious crimes. Very challenging, rewarding however vital role. www.sariweb.org.uk
