Curious and open to new experiences, I enjoy abstract thinking, intellectual debates and problem-solving amidst constraints. These along with a keen interest in reading-and-writing (and a parent’s gentle push), led me to Law for a degree.Ever since, I have found that helping individuals and businesses find a way forward while doing-the-right-thing, through nuanced interpretation of law & practical understanding of business realities, makes for a purposive and impactful career. Spending my earliest years at Madras High Court in litigation and as a company secretary in practice may have been unconventional choices then but as Steve Jobs famously observed, “You Can't Connect the Dots Looking Forward; You Can Only Connect Them Looking Backwards”. The company secretarial work and navigating litigation continue to be essential to my work.I specialised in M&A, joint ventures & PE/VC deals and banking & finance at multi-service law firms, and owe my solid foundation in contracting, negotiation, legal research to these consulting days.Today as in-house counsel at Dr Reddy’s, I serve a larger mandate to:- create legal strategies, both defensive & proactive, - deliver on business priorities while evaluating, mitigating and resolving risks,- safeguard company's assets,- uphold high corporate governance standards My career spanning over 2 decades across varied industries in different stages of growth and through economic ups-and-downs, has honed my ability to - guide decision-makers in ambiguous or uncertain times, - to see multifaceted perspectives and yet not lose sight of what is important & relevant, and - to think in the interest of all stakeholders.At this vantage-point of my career, I am keen to exploit my individual strengths and learnings to build a Function of Excellence in the legal & compliance domain.
