The scope covered around 28,000 personnel in operations, spanning 30+ functions. Six Hundred and Fifty FTEs were identified by me during the 6-week engagement.Media & Broadcasting Company in India:Optimize operations to free up resources to drive their expansion plans. Includes process re-engineering, designing technology interventions and org re-structuring.

I used to head the business development and delivery functions at Astutix. It had been a challenging journey, and I left after having established Astutix as one of the leading e-Learning players in India, driven by a a top notch team of PhDs and IIM alumni, with a global clientele including BMS, Wipro, Acer, Asian Paints, Fortis, PwC, BEL, ING, ICICI Prudential.

My mandate was to help Kale Consultants, the world leader in Airlines Revenue Accounting, enter the IT Project and Services market in the Travel, Transportation, Hospitality and Logistics (TTHL) domain. Kale was an acknowledged leader in IT Products and wanted to enter the IT services domain. In the short period that I was there, other than setting up the basic backend, I was leading Kale's bid for the multi-million deal with Air India, in partnership with IBM.

I learned a lot about the Airlines Industry in the 3 and half years that I was with SkyTECH, as also about the IT outsourcing industry and handling multi-million dollar deals. In my pre-sales and bid-management role, I helped improve our RFP response time from weeks to handling multiple RFPs in a week. Within 6 months of joining I was training recruits on the Airlines Domain Knowledge induction program, and within 1 1/2 yrs I was the de-facto In-charge of the Product Strategy and Management function and member of the Corporate Strategy group and the Airlines Domain Knowledge management group. I also co-authored and supervised multiple industry research papers on Airlines and Multi-modal transportation. When the STAR ALLIANCE, Frankfurt, wanted Airline domain experts to help out with their strategic SALES TRACK application, I was chosen as part of the 2-member Consultant Business Analysts to create the complex business rules to analyze the contracts of their 15+ member airlines with the Fortune 500.

This was a most enjoyable start to my work career, especially working with an eclectic selection of the sharpest minds in the country. The job was to to teach quantitative aptitude and analytical reasoning techniques to candidates preparing for the toughest management entrance test in the world (CAT). Creating puzzles with the teasing slippery logic, head-scratching analytical reasoning caselets, permutation and combination zappers, and testing it out on each other is something I get nostalgic about even now. And it was a good kick to see the students' eyes light up when you explain the solution logic - delivering sessions to 80 plus packed classrooms. We sent a few hundred students into the IIMs, and maybe a few thousand into the top IT companies like Infosys, who used to have puzzle based recruitment tests and interviews.
