My stint as Director of Income-tax (International Tax and Transfer Pricing) equips me with the expertise to help handle issues related to taxation of non-resident entities. I have vast experience in implementing Direct taxation Laws, including the newly introduced Black Money Act and the Prohibition of Benami Properties Transaction Act. In addition to the operational side, I have also worked on the dispute resolution side, giving me an understanding of the varied perspectives of Direct Tax Laws. My knowledge of accounts and practical knowledge of newly introduced but very stringent laws regarding Black Money and Benami properties transactions help me significantly in representation before the concerned departmental and appellate authorities.I was lucky to be associated with the computerisation programme of the Income Tax Department for a very long period, culminating in my last assignment as the Principal Director General of Income-tax (Systems), where I was closely associated with policy formulation. During my period, the government focused on rapid computerisation of the departmental work processes to improve the quality of services to the taxpayers. I am, therefore, uniquely placed to advise on how best to avail of the benefits arising out of these procedural changes. Many of these newly introduced changes in the Income Tax Department will also require corresponding changes in corporates' business data management and compliance policies. My long association with investigations of different financial scams in Mumbai and Kolkata, including that of the stock market transactions and shell companies, also enables me to advise on how to ensure data security in a business enterprise and secure confidentiality data. My inputs in developing due diligence parameters before acquiring property to avoid those having potential to be hit by colourable transactions will also be helpful to the buyers of properties.My interests include reading on subjects relating to law, management and also books relating to technology. I read extensively on how tech issues are handled in different organisations and their impact on people and society. I love the outdoors and play Golf as and when time permits. I also do Iyengar Yoga – an effort to find a balance between the body and the mind. I also travel a lot to stay close to nature.
