London based operations geology management for Tullow’s land based well activities in Uganda, Kenya and Ethiopia, developing best practices, technical solutions and contracting strategies to support Group activities, and to establish well design concepts and basis of design for wells projects working closely with Business Unit Operations Geology, Well Engineering, facilities and subsurface teams. And to assist the Business Unit teams in producing optimum well designs & programs and the safe and efficient implementation of these.

Based in the Tullow Chiswick office. This role involved successfully leading a team of Operations Geologists working on 2 continents, providing guidance and support ensuring that goals and deadlines were met in an efficient and timely manner. In this role one of my primary tasks was to build a QA / QC system in order to raise the quality of the operation. This step change was necessary due to the expanding nature of the operation and the moving of the supervision base from Cape Town to London. Based on previous experience I was able to create a more efficient system and guide a team of Operations Geologists in London and Kampala who became more productive, in turn the client was provided with a logical system that was more cost effective providing the required data acquisition and management system.

Responsible for the planning, supervision while drilling and reporting of the 34/4-13 S (Beta Statfjord) HpHt well drilling from July 2010. This well was the most successful Exploration well in Norway during 2010, leading to Petro-Canada being awarded ‘Explorationist of the year’ for 2010 in Norway and was drilled without any well control incidents.

Efficiently managed the planning, drilling and reporting of 50+ wells. This role involved the building of an exceptional team of Operations and Wellsite Geologists, Operations Petrophysicists and Geo-mechanics specialists who performed all of the Geological supervision for all wells. Major successes in this role were: Lead Operations Geologist for Norway’s second most prolific Operator Creation of a process whereby the team could efficiently interact with all of the other teams and departments in order to ensure a top grade service was supplied. Managing multiple teams supervising numerous North Sea wells in parallel. Efficiently managed HpHt, Geo-steering and Extended Reach Drilling wells.

Working on well planning and overseeing day-to-day operational procedures in the office and occasional Wellsite Geology trips offshore.

Extensive Wellsite Geology experience includes the North Sea, Caspian Sea, Canada, Middle East, Far East and West Africa. These projects range from remote single-string exploration wells to extensive field development programmes. Well type experience includes: Vertical, Deviated, High Temperature / High Pressure (HT/HP), Geo-steering, Horizontal, Extended Reach and Multi-laterals.

Initially working for Exlog and then Datalog Technology as a Mudlogger, Data Engineer and Unit Manager.
