I, Suchie Dutta Knaapen, have been pushing the pen (and punishing paper) for quite awhile now, 20 years and then some. As an editorial consultant, I have been doing copy/editorial writing and editing for the developmental sector, the United Nations, online publications, print magazines and BTL advertising.From tongue-in-cheek to semi-scientific for the UN, I have run the entire gauntlet of writing/editing on most genres combining varied subjects/styles et al. As is evident from my eclectic body of work, my core competency as a writer/editor lies in my adaptive ability to write on a wide range of diverse topics in the appropriate genre /writing style required.These days, however, along with the paper, I have added the online tutorial blackboard but the pen (virtual) still remains as punishing as ever. To elaborate, besides writing, my current passion happens to be teaching English (spoken and written) which is personally a very rewarding, very fulfilling challenge for me. I have a masters degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL from Leicester University, UK and I am also TEFL certified with 120 hours of teaching. I was a voice and accent, soft skills trainer but then focussed more on teaching spoken English to NGOs, travel companies, and particularly to people from disadvantaged backgrounds (people with less education from lower socio-economic strata who need to develop their spoken English to get ahead in their careers).
