As an independent researcher, I led a groundbreaking project focused on renewable energy, specifically on hydrogen production through ocean wave energy. Collaborating with esteemed institutions including the University of Michigan (UMich), Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), and Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), I developed a novel point absorber Wave Energy Converter (WEC) to address the challenges of frequency mismatch and optimize energy extraction from ocean waves.Key responsibilities and achievements included: Innovative Development: Designed and implemented a cutting-edge WEC to efficiently convert ocean wave energy into electrical power for hydrogen production. Integration of Technologies: Utilized solar desalination techniques to purify seawater, integrating wave energy conversion with solar desalination to support the electrolysis process. Scalability and Impact: Demonstrated the technical feasibility and scalability of the project, contributing to advancements in sustainable, green hydrogen production and addressing critical challenges in renewable energy.

American-Made Challenges: Waves to Water Prize (Adapt stage)Topic: Nalu e Wai - A USA, India, Sweden CollaborationNalu e Wai is a multinational collaboration for a rapidly deployable small-scale flap-type wave energy converter that drives a seawater-based hydraulic Reverse Osmosis (RO) system. Our unique multinational team, with members at three universities - in the U.S., India, and Sweden – proposed to develop a wave-powered desalination system that we’ve named the Nalu e Wai – from Hawaiian, meaning waves into fresh water. The Prize-motivated benefits of applicability to disaster-stricken areas and remote communities, while also being scalable to larger community. Nalu e Wai consists of a Wave Energy Converter that drives a seawater hydraulic system for desalination. A challenging task in this project was to develop the mathematical model using WecSim/Simhydraulics/MATLAB for the wave energy converter, as well as the desalination system.
