My primary role is to work with Research Scientists at Yahoo Labs and convert research ideas into new products by identifying the technology and architecture that is best suited for them, implement them and then hand over these new products to the product engineering team who will maintain them in production.(Some notable projects)- Adaptive Traffic Redistribution FrameworkI worked on creating an automated framework which allows different products at Yahoo to quickly try out different templates and then pick the best template based on the serve and click statistics. The framework was modeled based on Multi-armed bandit scheme and was implemented using Thompson Sampling algorithm.- Timeline for CelebritiesCreated a platform for extracting structured data about entities from Wikipedia and Freebase. The extracted data was further processed to automatically build timelines for famous celebrities using a decision tree that surfaced in Yahoo search results page.- Image DeduplicationI created a pipeline to detect duplicate images which was used by multiple products inside Yahoo. This was implemented by creating unique signature for each image using the Grid Color Moments(GCM) algorithm and then these signature were compared using similarity metrics like L2.- Predictalot.Designed and developed the frontend for the largest combinatorial market simulated - a prediction game for ncaa'09 (Men's basketball tournament known as March Madness), ncaa'10, fifa'10, Cricket World cup 2011 and IPL. http://labs.yahoo.com/project/the-predictalot-experiment-for-the-world-cup/- Labs WebsiteI designed the entire architecture for both the frontend and backend of the current Yahoo Labs website, which is available at http://labs.yahoo.com. The site uses WordPress in the backend and is designed using custom taxonomies and custom post types. The site allows anyone from Yahoo Labs organization to showcase their project, paper or publications.
