Layout/ Matchmove Artist
CurrentAs a layout artist, I handle important tasks like extending layouts, dressing sets, and adjusting timing and positioning. These tasks are the foundation that other teams rely on to do their work effectively. I'm constantly communicating with production and CG/VFX supervisors in our daily calls, discussing feedback and addressing any notes to keep the project on track and ensure we're meeting our quality standards through good teamwork.
Layout/ Matchmove
Freelanced as a Tracking and Layout artist for commercial ads and television series. Delivered high-quality shots, ensuring seamless integration with VFX and animations. Contributed to various productions with expertise in camera tracking and scene layout.
Key Artist - Layout
As a Layout artist, my primary responsibility is to create a virtual camera and place it in a 3D environment to match the live-action footage. I accomplish this by performing tasks such as set extension, camera tracking, rotoanimation, creating 3D objects, and adjusting the camera's position. Additionally, I collaborate closely with other departments, including modeling, animation, lighting, and compositing, to ensure the final shot looks seamless. To meet the project requirements, I work closely with CG and VFX supervisors to understand their vision and create the camera movement and framing for shots accordingly.
Layout Td
Following my role as matchmove supervisor, I was eager to broaden my skillset and decided to transition to the layout department. As I began to explore the field of layout, I discovered that it allowed for a lot of creative freedom in shots while still adhering to the show and shot requirements. My responsibilities included set extension, creating a complete CG camera, repositioning the camera, and adjusting the timing
Matchmove And Rotoanimation Supervisor
After working hard towards my goal of becoming a supervisor, I was thrilled when I achieved it sooner than expected. My previous supervisors played a significant role in helping me reach this position. As a matchmove and rotoanimation supervisor, I attended show calls with CG and VFX supervisors to understand project requirements. It was my responsibility to ensure that my team understood the scope and delivered the work on time. I supervised multiple shows, with 3-4 leads and 30 artists working under me. To ensure high-quality work, I did final quality checks before delivering and finalizing bids for shows and sequences with production. I trained the leads to support team members in achieving results on time and provided them with one-on-one reviews to help them improve their performance. I also prioritized the happiness of my team and made sure not to put them under excessive pressure
Matchmove And Rotoanimation Lead
Following my strong performance in the studio, I was promoted to the position of Matchmove and Rotoanimation Lead. In this role, I was responsible for overseeing my team and ensuring that we delivered shots on time. This included attending show calls, providing bids for tasks, and having daily catchups with both production and the artists to report on our status. I was in charge of managing a team of nearly 15 artists, where I prioritized giving them the freedom and support they needed to do their work. I also trained them and shared tips and tricks that I learned from my own experiences.
Senior Matchmove And Rotoanimation Artist
I transferred from MPC Bangalore to Trace Mumbai where I joined as a Senior Artist. During my time there, I worked on complex and crucial shots that had tight deadlines for both camera and RotoAnimation. In addition to my own work, I also mentored the junior team, guiding them to better understand their work.
Matchmove And Rotoanimation Artist
During my tenure at MPC, I had a great experience expanding my knowledge and skills in RotoAnimation, and working on multiple complex camera tracking projects. I took pride in mentoring team members and providing guidance to ensure timely delivery of high-quality work. Overall, my time at MPC was both enjoyable and rewarding.
Matchmove Artist
While working at Dneg, I gained extensive knowledge in creating accurate camera tracks and took part in various complex projects. The supervisors provided excellent training from the beginning, and emphasized the importance of maintaining high quality standards. This helped me tremendously when I transitioned to production. Additionally, I acquired knowledge in sequence proxy creation, dynamic lens grid solves, anamorphic experience, and more. I was even credited on-screen for my contributions to major projects such as Jason Bourne, Assassin's Creed, and Justice League.
Matchmove Artist
Once I completed my VFX degree, I began working as an intern artist, initially performing roto and match move tasks. With experience, I transitioned to the match move department and gained extensive knowledge of camera tracking, mocap, roto animation, and set building. My experienced team provided me with valuable guidance, helping me develop a strong foundation in these skills.
