Head Of Collaborative Programmes
CurrentI have a key strategic role in quality oversight, development, review and co-ordination of collaborative provision across the University. I advise on effective management of collaborative provision and promote effective partnership working, providing support and guidance for staff managing collaborative programmes both in the University and partner organisations.I have led curriculum development throughout my HE career (since 1995), provide academic leadership and promote good practice in design, development, delivery and review of collaborative courses, both College Based HE and with other providers. I ensure effective and consistent communication on strategic, developmental and operational matters and liaison between the University and partner organisations.I am Vice Chair of the University’s externally provided programmes sub-committee and convene staff and student forums and relevant working groups for the purposes of consultation and policy development, review and monitoring, thematic audit and evaluation, sharing of good practice and produce reports on such activities as appropriate.I have a keen interest in work-based learning and have set up a special interest group across the University to develop a reflective community of practice, share experiences and resources with a view to improving and enhancing different aspects of the student experience of WBL/placement. I am a Fellow of the HE Academy.My academic and research interests are in health care values and ethics, including rights to infertility treatment and the competing models of autonomy in choice in childbirth. I co-authored Values for Care Practice (2008) which is currently being updated for publication in 2014. Other interests include progression, equality of opportunity and social mobility in the new HE environment in respect of Foundation Degree and Higher National graduates and progression to Honours degree programmes.

My role as Project Manager for Strategic Course Review and Modular Schemes Development provided a unique opportunity to extend my strategic and leadership experience in working proactively with members of the Executive and all academic and service departments to ensure that changes to the modular frameworks and academic regulations, and the growth and development of course offer, contributed to our strategic plan and complied with both national and University quality standards and requirements. This included setting up and leading a number of working groups, e.g. for UG and PG Course Offer, curriculum innovation groups, rationalisation of the Undergraduate Modular Scheme, and a staff conference, as well authoring documents and advising on quality standards for course development, principles for course design, programme and module specifications.
