I am a Trustee of the Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust and Chair of the Grants Committee. The Fund distributes upwards of £30 million in grants annually on behalf of the Ministry of Defence and the Office for Veteran Affairs. The Trust funds projects that support delivery of the Nation's Covenant promise to the Armed Forces, Veterans and their families.

As Director, I am responsible for the successful running of the Foundation, which is a family grant giving charity dedicated to raising the quality of life and providing greater opportunities for the young, the elderly, the disabled and the disadvantaged across England and Wales. Key responsibilities involve agreeing the overarching strategy with Trustees; supporting the Board in its governance duties and advising on best practice; delivering an effective grant giving programme; representing the Foundation at external events; responsibility for the financial operations and liaising with investment managers and auditors to oversee assets valued at over £150 million. The foundation is a capital funder and awards grants of over £4 million each year to projects that help to create a real community focus or to provide facilities for those most in need.

I launched and managed Illuminated River - an initiative to light up central London’s bridges along the River Thames with the largest permanent public art commission in the world. The role required strategic leadership, strong governance, budget, project and team management skills, decision making and excellent stakeholder engagement ability.

I directed the re-opening of the new Tate Modern to shape the vision and agree objectives for the re-opening; developing and running all opening events (involving thousands of artists; members, patrons, donors, press and 3000 schoolchildren from across the UK on the opening day); liaising with the marketing, curatorial, development, visitor relations and learning teams to achieve cross-team buy in and seamless communications. The role required excellent stakeholder and team management skills, sound decision making, financial management, advocacy and governance ability, encompassing high-level project management; directing multiple teams; advocacy, press and stakeholder communications skills.

Set up and directed the first two Arab film festivals on behalf of the BBC World Service.

A consultant to the Mayor's Office of the GLA - creating a new festival of contemporary Arab culture for London. I set the festival up as a separate charity and directed the second edition as a stand-alone event, making it into the largest celebration of contemporary Arab culture in Europe.

I directed the sponsorship and communications teams at Kallaway and oversaw several of the largest corporate sponsorships of cultural institutions in the UK. Clients included Barclays plc and Sainsburys.
