I provided weekly in-person and virtual one-on-one tutoring to students of all ages (K-12 students, college students, and adults). I evaluated and understood the needs of the student and worked with them to set goals and adapt teaching methods to the student's learning methods. I prepared and implemented individualized tutoring plans for subjects such as Math, English, Writing, Chemistry, and Biology. Additionally, I effectively and openly communicated with parents daily and provided feedback to students and families after a successful session with a summary of topics covered and suggested new ideas for future tutoring sessions.

As an AmeriCorps member, I served with the Literacy Lab a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the Baltimore low-income community. I provided children from low-income families with individualized instruction to improve their literacy skills, leading to greater success in school and increased opportunities in life. I served for two years full-time, allowing me to form strong relationships with school staff, students, and families.As a K-3 Literacy Lab tutor, I was embedded full-time in one elementary school for the entire year and served a caseload of 15-18 children across grades K-3. I delivered one-on-one literacy interventions to each child for twenty minutes per day, five days per week. I provided supplemental practice to them using scripted, evidence-based literacy interventions and provided complete, accurate, and timely documentation of students' weekly progress scores and interventions using an online database while maintaining the confidentiality of all student data I also assessed students' continual progress using tree-annual benchmark assessments and weekly progress monitoring. During my two service years, I tutored a total of 36 low-income students on their literacy skills and managed to improve their reading scores before and during the pandemic. I served remotely and conducted live virtual tutoring sessions with modified interventions using online platforms used by the service site in support of distance learning efforts, such as Zoom and Google Meet.

As a credentialing assistant I executed complex administrative duties for 11 clinics throughout Southern California. I assisted in data entry and processed all new healthcare practitioner applications, such as creating, updating, and maintaining the California Participating Practitioner Application and the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare. I evaluated new and current healthcare practitioner applications of over 90 practitioners. I coordinated the onboarding process of new practitioners and verified the required credentialing documents such as current state license, DEA certificates, and board certifications. I assisted in data entry and ensured accuracy of practitioner information (demographics, education and training, work history, and malpractice history) throughout the credentialing database for insurance companies to access. I provided calendar management support for the department manager; scheduled and attended meetings with administration and newly hired physicians; and supported in preparation and distribution of materials as necessary. I communicated (verbally and written) with a wide range of departments, medical staff, insurance companies, and physicians; and served as a liaison on behalf of the department manager to foster strong working relationships. I performed tasks independently with minimal supervision and oversaw the department when required.

I provided patients with the highest level of care through my role as an emergency department volunteer and gained a solid background in patient care. In this role, I maintained contact and relayed information between patients, medical staff, and family. I provided patient care by interacting with patients and families, assisting and attending to all patient needs, and translating for Spanish-speaking patients. Additionally, I helped the medical staff with duties such as stocking supplies, prepping treatment rooms, disinfecting gurneys, transporting specimens to the lab, discharging patients, and other related tasks as needed. I executed clerical duties and was careful and accurate when collecting and handling personal patient information.

I explored the foundations of infants' social knowledge and how experience influences learning and development throughout youth. I participated in various experimental sessions that examined the knowledge and talents that infants are born with, what they need to learn, and how they learned it. I saw how experiences (such as exposure to multiple languages) influence childhood learning and development. My duties included recruiting and leading experimental sessions, performing looking-time studies, and collecting behavioral data. This experience has allowed me to acquire research skills and get a first-hand appreciation for how social-cognitive research on infants and children is conducted.
