I am always looking to deliver better outcomes and am never willing to accept that anything cannot be improved upon so I strive to break down barriers to deliver progress and improvement.GWCT in Wales impressed me with their science which is then used to develop practical solutions on the ground. My passion for Welsh farming and the environment meant that this role as Director Wales gave me the opportunity to work with farmers and rural communities towards enabling more biodiversity to thrive in Wales within profitable farming systems. I've not been disappointed in my first four years of work. The practical approach to science and solutions presented continue to move towards a thriving countryside.I completed my Nuffield Scholarship on influencing policy and regulation in my first year working for GWCT. Now working for a scientific charity I no longer lobby Government as I did while with the CLA rather now we inform and educate encouraging a science based approach to biodiversity and the environment. I worked on sabbatical for two years as Senior Adviser to Welsh Government’s Natural Resource Management team. The main task was the design and delivery of the Nature Fund which was created to find better ways of delivering Ecosystem Services through collaborative working. Other work included investigation into the best way of adopting Climate Change mitigation action onto farms and into the rural community.Shortly after establishing Tir Enterprises Ltd in 2000I began lobbying for County Land and Business Association (CLA) in Wales and as devolution progressed persuaded the CLA to create a policy team and was appointed Director of policy in Wales until July 2013.I am a Welsh speaking farmers daughter from Anglesey and qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1995 and as a Chartered Mediator in 2003. My mediation skills have been invaluable in managing change within organisations and finding succession solutions for families or better planning outcomes for communities while maintaining and developing good relationships between all parties.
