Well, life has been an interesting tapestry so far. I grew up in various places around Victoria before leaving home as a young teenager to work as a Jillaroo. Grew up a lot further very fast working with sheep and cattle near Wilcannia, NSW. Returned to complete High School then took my first trip overseas to the USA for the TransCal motorcross series. I went with a group of riders from the local motorcross club for whom I was the elected Sports Secretary for a year and First Aider for several years. Returning to Australia, it seemed like time to look at a grown up job and I started University doing a Bachelor of Business in Accounting. Didn't take long for a person like me to be chafing at the bit and within a year I realised that it wasn't going to be the life for me. I seized a passing chance to go to Alice Springs and see what it had to offer. As it turned out, there was a lot on offer for a young person with a sense of adventure. I stayed 22 years encompassing 15 years of tourism and driving public transport services to remote Aboriginal communities before deciding to chase the dream of being a Paramedic. It took a year to get accepted into the service, having zero medical background but that year was well spent nontheless as a cameleer taking groups of tourists on camel rides. 2006 culminated in a 2nd place trophy for the Honeymoon Handicap at the Alice Springs Camel Cup. In 2007, I started as a Trainee Paramedic in Alice Springs and had the honor of giving back to the community that gave me so much opportunity, experience and knowledge. Since leaving the Territory in 2011, I have worked in various parts of Australia as a Paramedic on a range of projects from exploration to production and minerals to oil and gas. The skills I learned on the station and in the Centre have stood me well and looking back, I wouldn't have lived it any other way. my background gave me the people skills, life experience and resourcefulness that make me a good Paramedic.
