She is the Unit Coordinator and Senior Lecturer in several ICT Education units, the Course Coordinator of Master of Education (eLearning), Chairperson, of the Australian and New Zealand Virtual Worlds Working Group and project leader of a national grant from the Office of Learning and Teaching (OLT): "VirtualPREX: Innovative Assessment using 3D virtual spaces with pre-service teachers" and team member of three other OLT funded projects: "Developing resources for pre-service teachers to enhance online teaching expertise", "Design as a catalyst for engaging students in creative problem solving" and "nDiVE: n-Dimensional immersive virtual environments to facilitate authentic education in Logistics and Supply Chain Management". Sue is researching Adult Learning in a Virtual World and examines student experiences of engagement, collaboration and immersion from their learning in a virtual world. The research explores Adult Learning Theories and is a collection of student reactions to their learning with the emerging field of a virtual world. Since 2008 students have been given the opportunity to explore the educational potential of the virtual world of Second Life as a teaching and learning tool. Over 500 students have taken up the opportunity to explore value of teaching and learning in a virtual world with Sue (aka Jass Easterman).
