Organized and founded new non-profit program to fill gap in services left in Wapello County when Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Iowa withdrew funding from Southeast Iowa and closed offices in May 2010. Currently serving approximately 100 children and youth per year in Ottumwa with afterschool mentoring and summer enrichment programs.

Grew the organization from an initial 6 children in Wapello county in 2003 to serving nearly 100 children and youth annually in Wapello and Mahaska counties by 2010. Developed volunteer recruitment and branding through public speaking, collaborating with local school districts and community partners. Developed and managed county programs with a special focus on leadership, grant writing, local diversity, promotions, fundraising and enrichment activities.

Worked directly with families referred by Iowa Department of Human Services for of the abuse and neglect of children in Wapello, Mahaska, Monroe and Davis Counties. Provided services including family counseling, parenting and life skills instruction, foster care supervision and supervision of visitation. Wrote treatment plans and court reports, made custody recommendations and testified in court cases.

Managed a caseload of 12-15 families eligible for program participation in Keokuk County. Recruited families who met federal poverty guidelines, provided in home parent instruction in principles of early childhood development, planned curriculum and supervised children for weekly center days in county preschool. Responsible for maintaining and reporting data according to federal guidelines. Developed group activities, designed program curriculum and organized fundraising projects in addition to direct family services.
